Linen Loungers-P4P

I didn’t realize this until the weather finally started to warm up, but apparently I love wearing the same style of casual shorts. You know- the cute running shorts (but let’s be honest, that’s not what I use them for!), made out of adorable woven fabrics, cute hemlines, etc. Just walk into any Nike or Adidas and you’ll probably spot them. However, I’d go broke if I bought a pair every time I walked into these stores.

So imagine my excitement when Patterns for Pirates talked about a pattern that would help create this look! Enter the Linen Loungers. I love everything about this pattern. First, it finally gave me an excuse to use up some of the woven fabric I’ve had for awhile but could never figure out what to make with them. Some of my favorite fabrics for this pattern have been Chambray and Crepe. I am excited to also try using boardshort material for a more casual pair.

Aside from finally using up these gorgeous prints, the pattern has so many options including a pant, capri, and shorts length (with two hem styles). During testing, I tried out both the curved and cuffed hem. The cuffed hem has a button tab, while the curved hem is created using a facing.

There are also two pocket options and two waistband options. You can add on patch pockets or slat pockets, as well as back pockets. For the waistband, there are directions for both a yoga band and an elastic band. I’m not going to lie- I kind of love the yoga band. It seriously feels like all the good things that maternity pants have to offer, minus growing a human! They are sooooo comfortable.

To stretch the pattern even further, there are several hacks on the Patterns for Pirates blog using this pattern. I shared on about adding bias binding to the curved hemline. By doing so, I basically recreated my favorite shorts ever! This is such a fun and easy hack to add a pop of color by using coordinating or contrasting fabrics.

Oh, and as if all of this wasn’t enough, P4P couldn’t leave out the littles in your life! There is also a kids version, Little Loungers, which includes many of the same options so that you can create matching outfits! Make sure to grab both of these while they’re on sale.
